Canon Singapore has revealed its ambitious target of US$1 billion in export revenue and product diversity from Vietnam.
“Canon has been the largest exporter in northern Vietnam in the past two years, and our target for this year is to reach US$1 billion,” said Mike Asao, chief representative of Canon Singapore in Vietnam. Last year, the company posted export revenue of US$700 million.
Canon has provided consumers with high quality and diversified business and consumer products, including laser printers, copiers, faxes, cameras, photo printers and scanners. So far, the company has invested US$370 million in the bubble jet printer manufacturers in Vietnam. It aims to maintain a year-on-year growth rate of 30%.
Asao noted that Vietnam’s economy was growing fast and Canon was seeing an even more progressive development in the next few years. Therefore, the need for office automation and photographic equipments will be likely to soar, and the company will focus on this sector.
Canon has established ink-jet and laser beam printer production facilities in Hanoi. Last year, it surpassed many giants to become the leading exporter of information technology products in Vietnam.
